Have any of you used Shopify? Not to be confused with Spotify. More info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shopify “Shopify Inc. is a Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Shopify is the name of its proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems. The Shopify platform offers online retailers a suite of services, including payments, marketing, shipping and customer engagement tools.” I see commercials all the time for them. For those who use it, what do you sell? Is it easy to learn? How does it compare to i.e. Ebay? While my husband has an Ebay account, I don’t. I have sold my homemade lotion balms & lipglosses at health stores but never online.

I've used Shopify. I tried doing a coffee drop-shipping business using them. It's pretty easy to use, but it can be expensive with all the fees are added up. Basically, there are lots of different options to connect your Shopify store to other "print on demand" distributors, or you can ship things yourself. Shopify is an e-Commerce site. Ebay is an auction site. You have to promote and advertise your Shopify webpage, whereas with Ebay, all you need to do is list your products and people with search in Ebay to find your stuff.

How long did your coffee business last?
So Shopify & Ebay are in two different classes then. Thank you for that clarification

Not too long. The costs associated with packaging and shipping (from the distributor) lead us to only having a profit of less than 50 cents for each sale. And to keep competitive with major brands we couldn't raise the cost of our product. So we're looking for other alternatives for income. I've even looked at Etsy, and while it's promising, I unfortunately don't have the time needed -- nor the massive savings account to process orders as they come in. The old saying is true, "you need money to make money."

Looks like a really neat business, but I don't ever see myself using it. I would most likely use a more local market to sell anything if need be.

I made lotion balms & lipglosses & my biggest customers were local health stores who loved my products!
