www.familyhandyman.com/article/surge-protector-vs-power-strip"Surge protectors and power strips look alike, but they have different functions. Here's how to tell what's what. Wherever you work or play, you probably have lots of experience with power strips and surge protectors. If you’re anything like me, you have a television, computer, phone charger and Xbox all plugged in to a strip hidden in a cabinet or under your desk...." My notes: Anybody else thought they were the same or at least similar? "Surge protectors take the basic premise of power strips and add an important safety feature: protection from sudden electrical surges that can harm your electronics and other sensitive devices."

I use surge protectors on my electronics like my computer and tv. We get power surges on occasion and no one wants their electronics fried.

Yeah, power strips don't have a breaker. Surge Protectors will shut off if get a surge, an outage.

I only buy Surge Protectors, seems rather foolish to buy anything less than that. It's good to have that safety in case something bad happens.
