Do you know of any child prodigies? Are you yourself one? What famous ones do you like? I wish I was one lol The one I know of is Mozart. Learned at 3 & composed his first piece of music at 5!

Stevie Wonder for me - he was a skilled musician when he was eight and made his first record at 12 years of age.

Blaise Pascal The 17th-century French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher Blaise Pascal wasn’t taught math at all as a child.

Not personally, knew a few smart apples that excelled in school but they were no Steven Hawkins. I would hate to be that smart, in this world of lesser intelligence.

Not personally, knew a few smart apples that excelled in school but they were no Steven Hawkins. I would hate to be that smart, in this world of lesser intelligence. You make a good point. I wonder if they just shake their heads. Not at the lesser intelligent people but those that don't even try.

John von Neumann (1903–1957) was a "mental calculator" by the age of six years, who could tell jokes in classical Greek. Von Neumann went on to make numerous contributions to mathematics, economics, physics, and computer science. Norbert Wiener (1894–1964) was a US-american philosopher and mathematician. He graduated from Ayer High School at 11 years of age. He was awarded a BA in mathematics in 1909 at the age of 14. I've never met one personally (except when I look in a mirror ).

& of course, the mirror never lies

One to watch out for is Faustino Oro, from Argentina: www.chess.com/players/faustino-oroHe's 9 years old, and he's already a chess master. At this rate, he'll be a grandmaster in a couple of years - and perhaps a future World Champion?

Do you strive to be a "master" yourself?

There are many child prodigies, but I don't know any personally. And, I wonder if they can have a 'normal & happy' childhood ?
I'm sure it'd be possible if the right people helped them...people who care about them

I imagine they do, if they had a good amount of common sense as well, that make it even worse. I'm not smart, but I know how things work and some days I wonder how people get dressed.

Do you strive to be a "master" yourself? I do study, but I'm nowhere near being a master myself. TBH I'd probably never reach that level unless I dropped everything else in my life for it - and I'm not about to do that. While I do enjoy chess, I want to do other things too .
