There’s many who like Smart Phones. You can do so many things on them. With that comes a cost, not just financially either. More gadgets & gizmos, more you need to up your security so you don’t get hacked. We had a TracFone but had to go to a smart phone as we couldn’t get a signal here at home. But it’s only for emergencies & for my husband to call home from work. Anybody like the simpler phones i.e. Jitterbug? If they still make those. What are the pros & cons you can think of with using one?

Pro: You have the world of information and communication in your hand.
Con: You have the world of information and communication in your hand.
I say the only thing is to know when not to use it and not be used by it otherwise, it's a great device.

I feel many people are used, aka controlled by it. I say that because if they can't get a signal, it's like they go through withdrawals!

Pros: + Instant information at your fingertips. + Instant communication with friends. + Scheduling and Task management. + Videos and entertainment.
Cons: - EMF (electro magnetic frequencies) [Radiation] - No privacy (you can be tracked via GPS and WI-FI signal triangulation). - No privacy (Yup, repeated: You're expected to be in instant communication at a moment's notice). - No down time. It's addictive, and sometimes can be hard to just settle down and meditate, or read a book, or not do anything electronic.
There's probably a bunch more that I'm forgetting.

I try to limit the EMF as much as I can that's why we don't go to the "Smart" appliances if we can help it.
The privacy is a big thing that many take for granted. & I can related to the 3rd point of again, no privacy. If I don't answer a PM right away, some people have gotten a bit annoyed with me. I like to have time to think before I reply! lol
I do unplug often. It's one of the many reasons our cell phone is only for emergencies. We don't use it otherwise.

I keep my phone set on Airplane mode when I know I don't need to be connected. Like while I'm at work and am not allowed on my phone, but yet I need my phone's camera function to do my job. I also keep my phone in Airplane mode while I sleep, so my alarms can still go off to wake me up, but I won't be disturbed by any other notifications or wireless signals.
