Paywall

This idea is thanks to Senkusha posting in Writing ability. Do you use a Paywall? What do you think of sites that have it? For those not familiar: Wiki"A paywall is a method of restricting access to content, with a purchase or a paid subscription, especially news. Beginning in the mid-2010s, newspapers started implementing paywalls on their websites as a way to increase revenue after years of decline in paid print readership and advertising revenue, partly due to the use of ad blockers. In academics, research papers are often subject to a paywall and are available via academic libraries that subscribe...." I've noticed it a lot with online newspapers. You get a certain amount of free views but then that's it. I honestly don't like having my account out there anymore than necessary. I can usually find the info in other places for free. However, if it's personal writings, then I can see how it would be beneficial & unique.

I have plans to use one, but on my Patreon page that will host my original fictional writings. I do have a rule though. All of stories always have the first three chapters completely free. That way, if you choose to support my works, you'll get a decent taste of what I create. Someday, I'll finally be able to get away from this nine-to-five.

I don't care for them, and if I do run into one I just look for information on another site. There used to be a website that allowed you to get around the pay wall, but the site is no longer around

Senkusha, demonskeith, Thank you both for your replies! I can see if it's supporting an individual where it's unique. But for major corporations where they are just reposting the same articles from other sites, no.

I tend to avoid them as I personally avoid paywalls, so using them myself seems off. However, they can be a great asset to creators, so I'm not against the idea of others using them.

That's the thing. If it's from an individual & this is their source of income. I don't care for them, and if I do run into one I just look for information on another site. What he said. Most information can be found elsewheres.
