Per Day Of: Pawnbrokers Day. Have any of you pawned something? Pawning was not what I cared to do. You have to pawn something of value & if you don't pay it back, you will lose the item. I've heard stories of kids pawning off heirlooms for the quick money. They didn't care if they got the item back. I know there is a Reality TV Show called Pawn Stars. I caught a few episodes but it's Reality TV so the drama is always upped. Steve said they are like "Loan Sharks" in the Day Of. I agree with that!

No, I can't say I have pawned anything. People have to be desperate. I thought this topic title sounded familiar! Many don't view the Day Ofs so I figured I'd use it as a QOD

I like the Day Ofs. If nothing else, they remind us to think about things we normally wouldn't or things we take for granted.

Naw, there's other ways to get money. I agree! Or you just rethink if you need the item where you would NEED that extra money.

It's an easy way to get quick money, but I've never done it. I don't have anything that be worth the hassle.

I've never pawned anything...ever. I'd rather just hand it down to a family member.

Although, there could be an argument for a positive use of pawning. When you want to cleanse your life. Possessions tend to become clutter. Removing this clutter can be a breath of fresh air, removing maybe not-so-fond memories, riding trauma, or just removing things that no longer serve you in your current life.
I think that E-Bay has mostly replaced pawn shops for this though.
I've used a pawn shop, but it wasn't to sell things. I've bought bars of .999 silver in the past using pawn shops.

My brother used to own a pawnshop. Bought a few items of jewelry there for little.

I can see how decluttering may be a reason to opt for a pawn shop.
My husband is into silver but we never thought of going to pawn shops.

Nope, but I do sell things online via ebay, Mercari, or FB Marketplace I never heard of Mercari? Are they easy to manage when you want to buy & sell like Ebay is? My brother used to own a pawnshop. Bought a few items of jewelry there for little. Some of the stuff is quite reasonable if you are the buyer.
