I used to listen to sad songs when I was going through some tough times but now, they just make it worse for me. We all change in life with what works & now doesn't. Just like I cannot watch sad movies. There's enough sadness in the world, I want to be entertained with music, not be reminded that life doesn't have a silver lining. But with that said, if a type of song helps get people through, keep listening to it! Don't ever let others tell you you should or shouldn't. Do you listen to sad songs? Do they help or hinder you?

Sure, I listen to sad songs...if they're already playing. And, some make me cry....and, that's ok . A sad song is just a reminder that sad things happen and to look forward to happier times. Personally, I think they help balance each other out. Just like everything else in life

I got a few, mostly because they are rather soothing and can ease me from tensions, even if they are pretty sad.

I don't make a habit of listening to them. I know when Michael passed away we were asked what songs to play during the service. There was no 'church' songs so to speak. He would have hated that. So I put together a list that held special meaning to both of us.
