Has anybody played around with Virtual Box? In case you don't know, Virtual Box is a free software that lets you run additional operating systems in a windowed "sandbox". So I'm in the process of installing Ubuntu Linux right now in Virtual Box. If it blows up, I delete the Virtual Machine and start over without affecting my Windows 11 PRO experience. I can have all kinds of different operating systems running at the same time. This utility is a Godsend for anybody who helps people with Technical Support issues. Or, if you like an old game, for example, you could load up Windows XP in a Virtual Box and play your favorite version of Scorched Earth!
So the reason I'm installing both Virtual Box and Ununtu onto my home computer is to help a friend with a System Administration issue, and since I don't currently have Linux as my primary operating system, this lets me poke around and see what I break (and hopefully, find a resolution to his problem). When I'm done, or if I break the Linux Box too badly, I can just delete it and start over. No harm done!.

What does it mean to "blow up"? I am thinking it's not in the literal sense lol so what really happens?

I haven't yet, but I really need to download it and set one up to play with somethings. It would be good for me to have more OS knowledge.

The term "blow up" is a technical term for "you did something to the computer system so bad that you broke it, and the only way to fix it is to start completely over with a fresh reinstall of the operating system (Windows, usually), and the software". LOL I used the term a lot when I worked in Tech Support, many years ago. Virtual Box is also good, for say if you have a iPad program that you want to run, say a game, but you work with a Windows PC. Virtual Box, I think will let you run that iPad program. demonskeith, here's the link: Virtual Box Homepage
