www.barkandwhiskers.com/2024-01-20-feline-interstitial-cystitisStory at-a-glance Indoor cats are at risk for bladder inflammation, aka feline interstitial cystitis (FIC), the most common specific disorder under the category of feline lower urinary track disease (FLUTD) FIC is referred to as “Pandora Syndrome” by some experts, because research suggests it’s much more complex than a single problem (inflammation) with a single organ (the bladder) After anatomic abnormalities and infections are ruled out, treatment for FIC-afflicted cats involves controlling pain and most importantly, eliminating environmental and metabolic stress My notes: Humans tend to be diagnosed with IC, even though it's only supposed to be done by exclusion. Now cats are being diagnosed. Males tend to have more issues than female cats. What we found out helps is adding more water to their diet. Kibble is dry & they are not like dogs where they would lap up water. Wet food can do a world of wonders. Even if you still feed some kibble. Ours have both as options but go to the wet food more.

Yeah, our male cats have had urinary infections. They say female cats have less problems.
