When on hold on the phone, do you stay on hold or do the call back number if it’s available? If they give a wait time & it’s up to 20 minutes, I just put the phone on my desk with speaker on (I have it there anyways lol) & just do other computer stuff. If it's much longer, I will put in my number as a call back.

If it's a short wait, I stay on hold. I usually just call back another time.

Same as Bob unless they have the option for them to call you back when it's my turn. I'll make use of that.

Always remain on hold, never give them a reason to not be able to call you back.

The call back is automated so one doesn't have to worry.

I always remain on hold because I live in a home that has dead zones and I don't want to miss any calls.

If it is excessive I will call back and hope I won't be on hold for as long.

I usually just put my phone on speaker and do other stuff, like the dishes while I'm waiting, especially if I know it's going to be like more then ten minutes.

I've had pretty poor results with the call-back features. I normally wait as when it comes to our utility companies (the things I'm normally on hold with), they rarely call you back.

Before automated systems I used a trick to get service without being on hold for more than a second or two. As soon as I was put on hold, I'd hang up then call again. The person answering would ask me if I could be put on hold but I'd say 'I was already being helped but we somehow got disconnected!'. I'd get service right then and there. Not really fair to the other people on hold but I did it anyway.

I'm not for bumping my way to the head of the line but sometimes you need to be a bit more aggressive!
Would this still work even with all the automation we have?

Possibly. If you could get a human on the line and are fast enough to keep them from putting you on hold.
