www.birdsandblooms.com/gardening/growing-trees-shrubs-grasses/how-to-care-for-butterfly-bush"Learn when butterfly bush blooms and how to prune and care for the flowering shrubs. Plus learn if you can grow butterfly bush in containers...." My notes: I've had mine for about a decade now. I used to prune it back but now I just leave it. I like it being a bush size. When it gets pruned, it tends to stay quite small. Others may find pruning works for them but mine does good without.

My grandma had one long ago, got a lot of monarch butterflies on it, was beautiful for a few years.

Love Butterfly Bushes!
They attract all sorts of butterflies, and bees and hummingbirds, too!
They're absolutely gorgeous!

Remembered why my grandma got rid of her bush, the darn japanese beetles turned it into lace.

demonskeith, I haven't had trouble with bugs on mine. A few here & there to eat some leaves but haven't done damage. Japanese Beetles can be quite destroying. lainee, They are nice! Do you cut yours back?
