www.barkandwhiskers.com/2024-03-03-pet-health-emergencyStory at-a-glance Knowing when to seek urgent veterinary treatment can be the difference between life and death for pets Identify emergency veterinary clinics in your area ahead of time so you can swiftly access professional assistance when every moment counts Pets are masters at hiding illness and often mask their symptoms; some animals, especially cats, may also hide when they don’t feel well When you arrive at the veterinary clinic, give your provider as many details as you can about your pet’s symptoms and the circumstances leading up to them Numerous pet health issues can be avoided or controlled via a healthy lifestyle and proactive integrative veterinary care My notes: I definitely agree on the pets mask their symptoms. Relying on lethargy, etc isn't always key.

Animals have a high tolerance for pain. This is good for people to know.

Usually when it's an emergency, it's a true emergency and if you live in the country, you better know ahead of time what's going to be open. I have a post-it on my fridge for when my daughter's bulldog comes to visit, so I know exactly where to take her in a crisis. She has allergies and had to be rushed to a vet in the city once, so I don't want to be the one to lose the dog just because I wasn't prepared.

I have it on our fridge as well our vet that has some after hours but also one that is 24/7.
Nothing like having an emergency & not knowing WHERE to go! The one that's 24/7 is about 40 minutes away but at least it's a place.

I don't think or maybe most cities, don't have 24/7 or emergency pet care, so it's best to make sure your pet doesn't get into trouble.
