History of watches Wiki"These early clock-watches were not worn to tell the time. The accuracy of their verge and foliot movements was so poor, with errors of perhaps several hours per day, that they were practically useless. They were made as jewelry and novelties for the nobility, valued for their fine ornamentation, unusual shape, or intriguing mechanism, and accurate timekeeping was of very minor importance...." My notes: Watches had drum-shaped cases & only had hour hands. They were more for a fashion statement than accurately telling the time. The late 1600s, they now had minute hands. Second hands came much later. Now we have phones that tell the time! Unreal! Members may like this thread: Do you wear a watch?

Don't wear one myself. In fact, I don't wear any jewelry except my cross.
