I hope a 2 year old PC is strong enough for Windows 10 and MS Office.
There are tools like Glary Utilities which can do a lot of wonderful things with Windows.
My personal favourite is Ccleaner, it is a very good cleaning tool which removes all junk files and thereby makes PC fast. Also, removed unwanted programs from Startup. You can start them manually when you need them.
Please note that these tools are known to clear history inside browsers and file explorer. Also, create a system restore point before trying them so that you can get back everything even if something goes wrong.

I'll talk with my husband about it this weekend so he can help me out. He's not into tech either so will be the blind leading the blind lol

Hope everything will be fine.
Just remember that it also clears the saved passwords inside the browser. So make sure to write them down.

Update! My husband & I spent time & did research. One option was to remove add-ins. I had done that before. Then I had looked that 2019 will be phased out anyways. I remembered why I didn’t want 365 at the beginning. 2019 is a one time fee. 365 you have to pay monthly/yearly. I saw there is an Office 2021. Who has had 2019, 2021, AND 365 & how do they differ? The 365 Family can have up to 5 accounts. I only need ONE account but I’m looking to incorporate it into another device. I use the desktop but sometimes I use my husband’s Laptop when we are at my parents. Because I don’t have Word installed, anything I want to add I have to put in an email then when we get home, I copy/paste it to Word. Is there a way to Sync the 2 devices?
I have Windows 10. & it says my Word is Version 2207. If that's helpful at all. Learning 2019 version will be phased out had me go on a different path with this.

If you use Office 365, I think it does sync your documents as long as they are stored in the cloud.
As for Office 2019, I do not see why you cannot keep using it, no matter what MS decides about it.

You should be able to use older versions of Word, I personally prefer to use Open Office. It's free and can open all the file extensions that Microsoft uses for Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc. You should be able to save your documents to the cloud so you can get access to your files from any computer. Also the difference between Office 365 and Office 2019 is that 365 a yearly subscription, that allows you to get access to updates as they come along. So you'd have to renew your 365 subscription each year to continue using it, whereas Office 2019 was a one time purchase and you can continue to use it after purchasing it that one time without having to pay anything extra. Honestly I prefer the old days where you just bought Office once, and upgrade if needed later on in the future rather than having to pay every year to use Office.

That's one of the reasons I nixed 365. I prefer just a one-time fee.
