Did you know ...
1. Dogs intentionally try to make humans laugh. They understand that laughter means play, and play is positive.
2. Japan has a 'wind phone'. An unconnected phone booth where grieving relatives go to 'talk' to their lost loved ones. Opened after the 2011 Fukushima earthquake/tsunami, it has seen over 30,000 visitors.
3. The average life span of a pet cat has risen from seven years in the early 1980s to fifteen years as of 2021.
4. In 1915 a pharmacist saw his sister make her own mascara with coal and petroleum jelly and thought he could make a better product. His invention was easier to apply and won't burn a woman's eye. He named his new company Maybelline after his sister Maybel and the base material Vaseline.
5. Third Man Syndrome is an unseen presence reported by mountain climbers and explorers during traumatic survival situations that talks to the victim, gives practical advise and encouragement.

Interesting! I’m tagging @dominic to see if he has been to a “wind phone”. Our cat was 18 when she passed away. We have another female cat who will be 16 & a male who will be 15.

ZandraJoi, maybe this is mainland japan, I'm in a tiny island in the south and don't know about this. Now I'm curious and want to ask my wife I think they are still grieving and crying. They did a memorial on TV not too long ago to talk about years past and people told their horror stories.

Let us know what she said @dominic. It would be interesting to know.
Did you know ...
1. Reindeer is the only mammal to change eye color to adjust the amount of light that enters the eyes in different seasons. They have golden eyes in summer and blue in winter.
2. Although using the ejection seat of a fighter jet in an emergency situation is not a punishable action, it often means the end of a pilot's career due to spinal fractures or head trauma.
3. In addition to Kamikaze pilots, the Japanese in WWII used manned torpedoes as a suicide weapon. The pilot would sit inside and manually direct the torpedo towards the target to maximize the number of hits scored from torpedoes fired.
4. The victims of Pompeii had near-perfect dental health due to a low-sugar diet and a local water source rich in fluorine.
5. Due to gravitational time dilation, Earth's core is about 2.5 years younger than its surface.

I watched a movie where a fighter pilot ejected & died. You'd think with all the technology out there, there'd be a way to prevent this.

I love these little trivia facts you are posting I'm glad. 1. There is an uninhabited island in the Bahamas known as Pig Beach, which is populated entirely by swimming pigs. 2. For almost 15 years, Vermont was technically its own country before joining the United States in 1791. It had its own coins and postal service. 3. An adult's kidney weighs about 5 ounces (142 grams) and is the size of a fist. 4. Without saliva, humans are unable to taste food. 5. If you ate nothing but rabbit meat, you would die from protein poisoning. This would be a mixture of too much protein and an absence of fat in the diet.
